19-year-old Vedamurti Devavrat Mahesh Rekhe has earned national admiration after successfully completing the rare and spiritually significant Dandakrama Parayanam in Kashi. The young Vedic scholar recited 2,000 mantras from the Shukla Yajurveda’s Madhyandini branch for 50 continuous days, without a single interruption, demonstrating exceptional discipline, devotion and mastery of ancient scriptures.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the achievement, calling it a feat that “future generations will remember.” As the MP from Kashi, PM Modi expressed joy that such a profound spiritual accomplishment took place in the sacred city of Varanasi. He also extended pranams to saints, seers, scholars and organisations who supported the young Vedamurti throughout the journey.

The Dandakrama Parayanam is considered one of the most demanding Vedic recitations, requiring flawless pronunciation, mental endurance and unwavering focus. Completing it at such a young age highlights Rekhe’s extraordinary dedication to India’s Sanatan heritage and Guru-Shishya Parampara.
