Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi visited Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh today, where he laid the foundation stone and inaugurated several key development projects aimed at transforming the region’s infrastructure, connectivity, and overall growth. The event drew thousands of citizens, local leaders, and dignitaries who gathered to witness the historic moment for the Malwa-Nimar region.
Strengthening Madhya Pradesh’s Development Vision
The Prime Minister’s visit to Dhar is part of a broader national vision to bring balanced development across all parts of India. Over the past decade, the central government has emphasized inclusive growth, ensuring that smaller towns and rural districts benefit equally from national schemes. Dhar, with its historical significance and tribal-dominated population, has often required special attention.
Speaking at the event, PM Modi said, “Dhar is a land of rich heritage, brave history, and hardworking people. Today’s projects will open new doors of opportunity, empower youth, and uplift farmers and women of this region.”
Key Projects Inaugurated
Several projects were formally inaugurated during the event. These included:
- Road Connectivity Projects – The launch of new highways and road expansion projects will connect Dhar more effectively with Indore, Bhopal, and other parts of the state. Improved road infrastructure will cut travel time, promote trade, and encourage tourism.
- Water Supply and Irrigation Schemes – The Prime Minister also unveiled new irrigation projects aimed at boosting agriculture. With Dhar being an agrarian district, farmers welcomed the move, as better water availability means improved crop yields and reduced dependency on rainfall.
- Healthcare Facilities – A new district hospital and multiple rural health centers were inaugurated to strengthen healthcare access for remote villages. PM Modi emphasized that “health is wealth,” and no citizen should be deprived of timely medical treatment due to lack of infrastructure.
- Education and Skill Development Centers – To encourage youth employment, new skill centers and ITI expansions were announced. These institutions will train students in modern trades and technologies, preparing them for both domestic industries and global opportunities.
- Tourism and Heritage Conservation Projects – Dhar, known for its forts, temples, and cultural richness, will now see investment in tourism infrastructure. The aim is to generate local employment while preserving the district’s heritage for future generations.
Farmers and Tribal Welfare
Dhar is home to a large tribal community, and the Prime Minister paid special attention to tribal welfare schemes. New housing projects under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) were announced, ensuring pucca houses for tribal families. Additionally, schemes for improved access to healthcare, education, and drinking water were emphasized.
PM Modi also highlighted the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, which continues to provide financial support to small farmers, including those in Dhar district. He reiterated the government’s commitment to making farming more profitable through modern technology, better market access, and irrigation reforms.
Employment and Industrial Growth
The Prime Minister underscored that along with agriculture, Dhar would benefit from industrial development. Plans are underway to expand industrial corridors and small-scale industries in the district. Local entrepreneurs will be given incentives under schemes such as Make in India and Startup India, ensuring that the youth can find employment closer to home instead of migrating to bigger cities.
PM Modi noted, “Our vision is not only to create infrastructure but also to create opportunities for employment, innovation, and entrepreneurship.”
Public Response
The people of Dhar welcomed the Prime Minister with enthusiasm. Villagers and city residents alike expressed their hope that these projects would improve living standards. Farmers particularly appreciated the irrigation initiatives, while youth showed excitement about new skill centers and industrial projects.
Women from self-help groups were also present at the event, showcasing how government-backed initiatives have already empowered them economically and socially. Many stated that better connectivity and healthcare would further improve their quality of life.
Madhya Pradesh Government’s Role
The event was attended by Madhya Pradesh’s Chief Minister and senior state ministers, who extended their gratitude to the Prime Minister for focusing on Dhar. The Chief Minister highlighted how these projects align with the state’s development vision and would contribute significantly to Madhya Pradesh’s progress as a fast-growing state in India.
A Message of Cultural Pride
Apart from infrastructure, PM Modi’s speech also underlined Dhar’s cultural and historical importance. He praised the resilience of its people and called for protecting its heritage while moving ahead with modernization. Dhar, once a center of power in medieval India, continues to hold deep cultural roots, and the Prime Minister assured that development will go hand-in-hand with conservation.
