The veteran actor passed away at the age of 87 in Mumbai after a prolonged illness . A week later, his sons, Kunal and Vishal Goswami, performed the sacred ritual of immersing his ashes in the Ganga River at Haridwar, marking the culmination of his final rites.
The Immersion Ceremony at Haridwar
The immersion ceremony took place at the revered Har Ki Pauri ghat in Haridwar, a site of immense spiritual significance in Hinduism. Kunal and Vishal Goswami, accompanied by close family members, conducted the ritual under the guidance of the family’s priest. Kunal Goswami expressed, “The ashes have been immersed in the Ganges, and we pray for the peace of his soul through the blessings of Mother Ganga” .
A Nation’s Farewell
Prior to the immersion, Manoj Kumar was cremated with full state honors at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Mumbai. The ceremony was attended by numerous dignitaries and celebrities, including Amitabh Bachchan, Salim Khan, and Subhash Ghai, who paid their last respects to the legendary actor . Kunal Goswami lit the funeral pyre, fulfilling his duties as the elder son .
