The Padma Awards, among the highest civilian honors in India, hold a revered place in recognizing outstanding contributions across diverse fields. Announcement and Conferment
The Padma Awards are announced annually on the occasion of Republic Day, January 26th. The awards are conferred by the President of India in ceremonial functions held at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, typically around March or April. These events symbolize the nation’s gratitude and acknowledgment of the remarkable efforts of its citizens.
Padma Awards 2025
For the year 2025, the President of India has approved the conferment of 139 Padma Awards, including one duo case (where an award is shared and counted as one). The distribution of the awards is as follows:
- Padma Vibhushan: 7 awardees
- Padma Bhushan: 19 awardees
- Padma Shri: 113 awardees
Among the recipients, 23 are women, and the list includes 10 individuals from the categories of Foreigners, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs). Additionally, 13 awards have been conferred posthumously, honoring individuals whose legacies continue to inspire.
