Rahul Gandhi Criticizes BJP’s Economic Model: Accuses Favoring the Wealthy While Congress Supports the Poor

In a recent address at an event in Hospet, Karnataka, marking the second anniversary of the Congress-led state government, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for promoting an economic model that, according to him, benefits a select group of wealthy individuals. He contrasted this with the Congress party’s approach, which he claimed focuses on uplifting the economically disadvantaged by directly transferring resources to them.

Gandhi stated, “The BJP follows a model under which select rich people get entire money and resources, whereas in the Congress’ model, money is put into the bank accounts and the pockets of the poor.”

The event also highlighted the distribution of over one lakh title deeds to residents of previously undocumented habitations, now declared as revenue villages. This initiative was presented as the “sixth guarantee” fulfilled by the Congress government in Karnataka, emphasizing the party’s commitment to social welfare and economic empowerment of marginalized communities.

Gandhi’s remarks are part of a broader narrative by the Congress party, positioning itself as a pro-poor alternative to the BJP, which it accuses of favoring the affluent. This discourse is expected to play a significant role in shaping the political landscape as the country approaches upcoming elections.
