United Nations: Russia has issued a sharp warning over the stalled progress of the Gaza peace initiative, raising concerns about growing instability in the Middle East and criticizing both political and military developments in the region.
Speaking at the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, Ambassador of the Russia, stated that the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict—linked to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803 (2025)—has failed to move forward as expected.
Gaza Stabilization Efforts Delayed
Nebenzia highlighted that the proposed International Stabilization Force for Gaza has still not been deployed, despite being a critical component of the peace roadmap. The plan, reportedly initiated in Washington, D.C., aimed to restore stability and pave the way for long-term political solutions.
“The implementation has effectively stalled,” Nebenzia said, warning that delays could worsen the humanitarian and security situation in Gaza.
Criticism of ‘New Gaza’ Development Projects
Russia also criticized what it described as superficial attempts to resolve the crisis through economic initiatives rather than political solutions.
According to Nebenzia, instead of focusing on the creation of an independent Palestinian State, the international community is pursuing large-scale commercial initiatives.
He referred to these as “New Gaza” projects, accusing stakeholders of trying to “buy the goodwill of the Palestinians” through infrastructure and development plans without addressing core political issues.
Concerns Over Israel’s Actions in Lebanon and Syria
The Russian envoy expanded his criticism to include Israel’s military actions in neighboring regions, particularly Lebanon and Syria.
He warned that continued escalation could have serious consequences, especially in Syria.
“One must not mistake Damascus’s political wisdom and strategic restraint for weakness. The cup of patience could very well overflow,” Nebenzia cautioned.
UN Peacekeepers’ Safety at Risk
Another major concern raised was the safety of UN personnel. Russia accused Israel of failing to respect the security of peacekeeping forces operating in conflict zones.
Nebenzia called for a swift and transparent investigation into all incidents involving threats to United Nations Peacekeepers, stressing that their safety must remain a priority.
Growing Diplomatic Tensions
The statement underscores rising geopolitical tensions at the UN, with disagreements intensifying over how to resolve the Gaza crisis. Russia’s remarks reflect broader concerns that diplomatic efforts are losing momentum while conflict risks continue to rise across the region.
As the situation evolves, global powers remain divided on the path forward—between political negotiations, military strategies, and economic reconstruction plans.
